Another day, another blog. I’m somewhat getting in the habit of this, and it’s almost been my one month blogging anniversary.

In other news, we had a practice lockdown today at school, which is mandatory by the school board. I understand we need to be prepared in the unfortunate event that a gunman came to our school, but it’s ridiculous to think that the gunner will assume nobody is in the school, just because we’re ‘hiding’. The principal even announced over the PA that there are specific classrooms where we should go to hide for the lockdown. In most instances the person bursting into the school and trying to shoot at students is actually a student at that school. So if he knows where everyone will be because the principal conveniently announced it over the PA, well, isn’t that just nice.

I suppose the whole procedure keeps us safer than we’d be without it, but in some aspects, the school doesn’t know what they’re doing. Don’t warn us ahead of time, let it be a surprise so they can evaluate how we react and work from there.

On a less shoot-kill related topic, I’ve been accepted to York University and University of Guelph. Ofcourse, neither of which I’m really pumped to go to. I’m still anxiously waiting for my first choice which is UTM. Hopefully they’ll get back to me soon so I don’t have to wait day after day thinking the worst will happen.

I can’t wait until summer comes. It means a lot of things though (some good, some inconvenient): getting a job, getting my liscence, going to summer school, doing more chores (especially in the blistering sun), oh and the best part would be – being lazy!

  1. We had a bomb threat earlier this year. I was home sick. But I heard many kids just left when the lockdown announcement was made. We have a ridiculous codename so when people heard it, they took off.

  2. You have a codename? All we have is someone screaming into the PA, “INITIATE LOCKDOWN! INITIATE LOCKDOWN!” and then a high piercing beep continues on for about 5 minutes. :X

  3. Ours is named after a pop -_- Code Red (of corse the code “Code Red” came out before the Mounten Dew “code red” :ermm: We also have a “Code Yellow” which means just clear the hall ways say if a kid was so sick they needed to call an amblince in….which happend once we were in lock down for TWO HOURS before Code Yellow was made because some kid had some mental break down or something…..I really do not know what happend.. but the joke is that they called it Code Yellow because of all the kids who needed to use the restrooms after we were clear….. :Ermm:

  4. Yes ours is a name. They ask for a fictional teacher. The same one every year and the teachers and students know we’re in lockdown.
